A lung cancer Overcomer!

Dear Friends,

It is a pleasure for me to share my experience with you.

I was always a healthy individual having minimal down time for sickness all during my employment years. I never smoked because I know the scriptures tell us to take care of the TEMPLE that God has given us.

In November of 2016, I developed a hacking dry cough. The ER doctor diagnosed the cough as pneumonia and prescribed several antibiotics. The cough persisted and the doctor recommended that I visit my primary care physician. By this time, I was getting weak and tired easily.

The Holy Spirit directed me to find a Pulmonary specialist. I obeyed and although he wasn’t taking new patients, he saw me in his office.

I took the ex-rays from ER and the doctor sat me down for consultation after the examination. He looked at me with concern and care in his eyes. But, his words were piercing when he told me I did not have pneumonia, but lung cancer instead. And it was aggressive. Yes, I cried. And cried some more. The left lung had to be removed immediately to save my life.

I couldn’t understand why I had lung cancer. I never smoked and always worked in smoke free offices.

I asked the church to pray. The surgery was successful and the chemotherapy begin. It was intense and quite painful. My body felt like it was actually on fire. My legs hurt with pain I never knew existed.

My daughter was a God-send. She was at every appointment, every treatment and at home to care for me, with the nurses that were attending me.

My recovery was slow and hard. My church family supported me with visits, many cards, calls and flowers. And a singing group lifted my spirit, also.

Today, I am a SURVIVOR!!!! MY JOURNEY WAS NOT EASY BUT I GIVE ALL PRAISES TO GOD THAT HEALS ME.

I AM A SURVIVOR
