"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death….." (Psalm 23:4 KJV)

It’s a scary, yet humbling experience to realize that one day you’re gonna leave this world. I’ve been raised in the church all of my life, so I know that there is a heaven and hell. I also know that you are gonna spend eternity in one place or the other. I praise God that I made Jesus my personal Lord and Savior and I can expect to spend my eternity with Him. But again, it’s humbling to recognize your mortality. Someday, you and I will leave this world. The question is are “you prepared”? That is what I’m dealing with now. Am I ready to see God in peace? Every day I work towards the goal of seeing my Savior in peace and to hear Him say “well done”. I think about loved ones whom I have lost because of this dreaded disease of cancer. In particular, my mother, who loved the Lord and was a champion of faith until the end. She never stopped praising her God, nor sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. The thoughts of death are parading through my mind more frequently. Something about the word ‘cancer’ makes one immediately think of death. However, with today’s medicine and technology, treatments are available to help people live. So I have to constantly rebuke these thoughts and remind the Devil that “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD” (Psalm 118:17 KJV). I know the enemy wants to bog me down with worry and the fear of death. But guess what? I remember that Jesus Christ conquered death on the cross of Calvary, so I have no need to fear. Besides, I read the book (the Holy Bible). I know the end of the story, and guess what? I WIN!
