The Ministry of Music

Updated: Jan 23, 2023

Anybody love music? I certainly do but many people don't realize the impact music has on their lives. Get on the elevator and listen to what is commonly named "elevator music". Go to a doctor's office and sometimes you'll hear music playing in the lobby area. Attend a sports game? Gotta have that music band. And we ALL KNOW the impact of music in a church service. Why is that?

As a musician, let me tell you, music is very important. It can both uplift you or depress you. That's why I always aim to play and listen to music that makes me feel uplifted. Now what works is totally an individual matter. Some like jazz, some R & B. Some love classical while others live on gospel and spiritual hymns. My suggestion is to find what works for you and use that genre or style to encourage you. I love almost all genres of music. I find blessings in them all.

My point is simply this....music has the ability to encourage, uplift, even to heal. Listen to the right song and you feel like Rocky at the top of those Philadelphia library stairs. The wrong song will have you crawling in the dirt. Let me let you in on a little secret....I love Pictures at An Exhibition by Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky. Each work brings out various expressions of emotion in me. From somber to pure and utter joy.

For great selections of inspirational music, visit Christianbooks and make a purchase.

So with that said, God has blessed humanity with this wonderfully beautiful gift of music. I consider music to be a great "depression buster". I have other depression busters as well (there's a list of such busters of More on my page of freebies). Take the time to enjoy the gift, the ministry of music. Allow it to transport you to a place of joy and peace. Even a place of love. Again, every person has their own taste in music. What works for one may not work for another, but I'm sure that there's something for everyone. Even more.....be open to new selections and artists. You may be surprised by the blessings you'll find.
