Has anyone ever made a promise to you? A promise to give you something that you really wanted or needed? I'm sure you can think of someone. Maybe it was that you wanted for Christmas. Perhaps it was that car when you graduated from school. How about that symbolic "ring of commitment"? Ring any bells?
While you were waiting for that toy, or the car, or that "ring of commitment", what did you do? Did you just stand there with your hands outstretched, just waiting as the time went by? Did you constantly nag the giver "where is my promise"?
As you have acted in the natural, do you act in the spiritual. God has given many promises. Sometimes it was what you wanted. Usually, it's what you really need. So while you wait on your promise to be manifested, how do you handle it? Do you just stand there with your arms outstretched to God? Or do you constantly nag God saying, "where is my promise"? Hmmm, I'm just wondering!

Let's take a look at a couple of biblical examples: Joseph and Abraham and Sarah. Firstly, Joseph was a good young man. He had the favor of God AND man on his life. However, when he was just a young man, aged 17 years, he had a dream. He dreamed he was "binding sheaves in the field and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and behold, his brothers' sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to his sheaf" (Gen. 37:5-7). Then again, Joseph had another dream. This dream showed the sun and the moon and the 11 stars "making obeisance to him" (Gen. 37:9).
Needless to say, these two dreams angered his brothers and troubled his father, Jacob. They couldn't believe that "Little Joseph" would be in a rulership position over them, seeing that he was next to the youngest child! So his brothers plotted to get rid of him. Get rid of Joseph and just tell daddy "he was eaten alive by a beast" (Gen. 37:20).
The plan almost worked. For they got rid of Joseph, only Joseph was not eaten alive. Instead, he was sold into slavery to the Egyptians. And it is in Egypt that Joseph experienced enough troubles to get him imprisoned. But did that stop Joseph from loving God; from serving God? No. In fact his imprisonment only nursed his true calling in God. That calling was to be the "Ruler over all of Egypt, second only to Pharaoh himself". In Joseph's "meantime", he did not deter from his relationship with his God.
Secondly:. Abraham and Sarah had a promise from God. A promise for an heir. They were so excited to hear this news! Problem is, they couldn't wait, didn't wait on God. Instead, they chose to make their own decision- to help God out! In steps Hagar, the handmaiden of Sarah. Hagar becomes impregnated by Abraham, with Ishmael, who although the firstborn, should've been the heir. But not according to God's will. God's plan included the heir to come from Abraham and Sarah. Not from Abraham and Hagar. Their "In the Meantime" decision created serious issues between the family of which we are still witnessing til this very day! It is so very important what you do "in the meantime"!
So again, my friend - what do you do in the meantime? From your "Promise to Possession"? God has given us His promises, but it is vital that we remain faithful and true to God in order to receive the promises. So....
1). When it seems everyone and everything is gone, what do you do "in the meantime"?
2) When God has given His word of promise but it hasn't manifested yet, what do you do "in the meantime"?
And finally,
3) From "Promise to Possession", what do you do "in the meantime"?
Let me encourage you to spend time with God the Father, in the shadows, so that when your promise comes, you'll be ready to go from "Promise to Possession"! Stay faithful to God and Watch Him Work!!!
Be blessed!

It is February 2024 and I found myself needing to remind myself of this message. I preached this sermon a few years back, and later posted thoughts derived from that message. My, times have not changed much!
You know, when given a promise, it's natural to expect a quick manifestation of that promise. I get it. I feel that way too sometimes. But my friend, God doesn't always act when WE want Him to act. That's why we have to wait. We have to pray. And always ALWAYS trust.
Remember, the promises of God are sure. He is not a man that He should lie. If He said it- that settles it. Believe it or not! God can...and God …
