“And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to myself.” ~~John 12:32

Insomnia is defined as persistent problems falling and staying asleep. In most cases, insomnia causes poor sleep habits, depression, anxiety, lack of exercise, chronic illness, or certain medications. And now, we have to add stress on our minds.

Now I’m sure you can identify with me in saying “I experience insomnia, too”. In fact, I think it would be safe in saying the whole world experiences insomnia from time to time. Especially since now so much talk is going on regarding the Covid-19 limitations.

Such is the case nowadays. These quarantines that are instituted now have been set in place for our protection. We are spending more time at home. We now are doing every thing at home; from running our household to sleeping. However, the need for more sleep is prevalent. We try all types of ways to attain sleep. There's a warm cup of milk, listening to soothing music, listening to the sounds of nature (birds singing, soft rain, crickets, etc.), even the use of aromatherapy. We pray to God, hoping He will show us some mercy and let us sleep. But many times, sleep just will not come.

In dealing with insomnia, it's important to identify the source of stress. Once you've identified its source, then you have to learn how to manage it. Many health issues can be controlled or eliminated simply by managing stress. We are not expected to handle the weight of stress or anxiety. And depression is not our friend.

When it comes to sleep, I agree that we don't get enough of it. Lack of sufficient rest is experienced on a daily basis. But there is a tried and true source of stress management available to everyone. His name is Jesus, the Son of God. Jesus said "Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest". Jesus is the one who makes our burdens, our stresses, light.

We are entering one of the most important observances there is in the Christian world. It's Resurrection Sunday. Jesus was crucified but rose from the dead! He took on all of our burdens, our stressors, our sicknesses and diseases, our sins. He paid the price for us (the world) so that we can be free from the grip of sin. This message of freedom is to be shared with the world. And don't worry about howto do it or what to say. As the opening scripture says "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, I'll draw all men unto me".

In these perilous times, we have someone who cares. Someone who is strong and mighty. Someone who controls everything. Jesus will give peace and contentment from everything that troubles you. All you have to do is ask and - Sleep in Heavenly Peace!

Jesus Lives!!!
